About

For me, painting is intuitively focusing on the moment. My work often starts with a color or a combination of colors, movement, and shapes. I mainly work with oil colors on canvas. My way of painting is slow and layered. Recurring themes in my work are the passage of time, memories, important places, and prevailing emotions. I don’t really lock myself into a specific subject, but rather let the painting guide me.

The most important thing when painting is honesty. It means finding a connection, being present in the moment. I think that connection is also at play when I think about where the soul of a work comes from. Painting, for me, is eternal change, it reflects time and allows me to move freely in both abstract and more representational directions. The end result always reflects everything around you and what you have experienced.
